"Remember Me" Problems

Post By:user_67228 | Reply

I am currently on Joomla 3.2.1, and will do the update to 3.2.2 shortly. I have been having trouble with "Remember Me". Would 3.2.2 fix the below issue, or is there anything I can do to resolve?

- A user logs into their account and uses the "Remember Me" checkbox at login.

- When the user visits again next session, the website shows they are not logged in.

- The user either has to login again -OR- access a page with "Registered" access. Sometimes, it's hit or miss. Accessing a registered page will occasionally generate a info box "You are already logged in!" on top, and proceeds to load the content for the user. Other times, it'll direct the user to login.

What can be causing this to occur? Is there any way to fix this behavior?

Thanks in advance!

Than you are in trouble especially when that is not done with proper (+ template) overrides. Any upgrade will override core modifications. Therfore core modifications need to be done in overrides (see documentation site for that

I'll have to update mine to 3.3.3 to see if it's fixed. I haven't yet updated since we have a lot of custom work built into our Joomla install.

This issue is resolved in Joomla 3.3.3--> upgrade always (!) to latest version

1 - lost connection without log out. Just close the window.
2 - sometimes, lost connection just changing window.

I heard about problems with login in version 3.1 or 3.2.

Question: Is the user logging out or just leaving the page? The remember me only works if you don't log out.

you can use a simple javascript remember me based on local storage. just store a key with the user credentials and check if it's exists each time user visits the log in screen

Sorry to ask, but this bug still open, isn't it?

I thought it did at first, but after closing the browser for an hour and opening a new session, I get the dreaded not logged in. I tried both mod_login login module and the regular com_users login page and it still isn't working. Do you know anything I could check to see why it's not behaving as expected?

Well? Did it......?

Commenting to myself. :) I saw that 3.2.3 was released, and the changelog mentions remember me. I upgraded tonight. Crossing fingers this corrects the issue!

Anyone? I read over another thread involving Remember Me, but it does not address this issue. Very odd how sometimes you can click to login, and suddenly the site "remembers" you were logged in.
